linux-ck 4.13-9

Has anyone else seen any misbehaving ever since the update of -ck to 4.13-9?
I've had some strange behavior, nothing specific, but yesterday after shutdown the last thing on screen was "system halted" then the machine stayed on all night.
A couple of programs didn't run right the day before either but I didn't attribute it to kernel.  The day before that I had booted with -zen and had no issues.

I noticed this morning that my monitors didn't go to sleep but I can't tell yet if it is related to any kernel issue.

Also while on shutdown I noticed that modemanager was having trouble shutting down.  I looked at dependencies and it only lists it as an optional dependency for networkmanager.  Is it safe to assume it can be removed?
I can't try it yet because gcc5 has been compiling for hours...  Maybe I should try a faster system, like an 8 yr old :)

Yes I have no modem and have removed it and seems to be OK

A few minutes after this comment my everything went frozen but the mouse pointer
FF was on, but idling (if that is possible) and I was on a terminal (lx-) and was typing ls and that was the last thing that was on the screen.  Meanwhile gcc5 was compiling in the bg for hours and never finished.
I am willing to bet it was FF, so now I am switching to Palemoon everywhere.  It rocks!

How related is this issue to the one here?

when I updated to 4.13-9 from system-testing a couple of days ago (before it was moved to system) I was getting a kernel oops at login

I have no idea.  4.13 in all forms it wouldn't run at all up till last week or 10 days.  I even tried 4.14 from AUR.
After some updates linux-zen 4.13.9 worked.  linux-ck also was upgraded to 4.13-9 from 4.12 it was before.
This is now an issue of sudden freezing and slow or no shutdown.
I took modemmanger off as I noticed it was having problems shutting down and I have no use for it.  The last
shutdown gave the message the system was halted, the usual last line you see, but it took another 20-30" to
go off.  Reboot though works very very fast.
Also elogind was upgraded yesterday and if it is related it seems as an improvement.  No crashes since then.
It is hard to diagnose as there is nothing in the logs indicating a problem.  I need to read up what and how the
recovery-boot mode does and whether it reads the state under which the freezing took place.

linux-ck 4.13.9-1 in system is doing the kernel oops for me (just like when it was in system-testing)

at the ********* (added by me). I get a bunch of kernel spam at boot, followed by the usual rc-service stuff, as opposed to linux-lts which just gives me the usual rc startup.  It could be bad ram?

I also get a lot of
Code: [Select]

during normal usage (but particularly when building large packages like firefox/kernel)

running and scanning through for potential problems, I didn't find Oops, but got this
Code: [Select]
$ dmsg > kern.log

[22919.491916] perf: interrupt took too long (5069 > 5060), lowering kernel.perf_event_max_sample_rate to 39400

Anyone has a clue what this may indicate?  Is this a self adjusting script within the kernel to adopt to the hw?
