Barrier 2.3.3

Hey everyone, this program's new version (2.4.0) doesn't work Windows to Linux, so I was wondering if any of you could build the old Barrier against the new QT5-base, and if we could put it in our repos that'd be amazing. I tried to build it from source but got an error about not the right QT version 5.15.2 to 5.15.3 or something.

I built it from source and installed it, but it still throws me an error about QT5 not being 5.15.2, so I had to downgrade my qt5-base to 5.15.2

I'm not the most savvy user and I apologize for that, but I am trying. Any help with this is greatly appreciated, as I rely on Barrier 2.3.3

That error is likely due to qt5-styleplugins. It has been rebuilt against Qt 5.15.3 today so I suggest giving that a try.

YOU ARE RIGHT!!!! THANK YOU!!!

I was legit scared I was gonna lose Barrier forever, and to make barrier work I had to downgrade qt5-base which made VLC stop working I think. I'm so happy I don't have to choose between Barrier or VLC. Thank you so much.

Still though, I think it'd be great if someone could create an AUR package for Barrier 2.3.3 if at all possible. I am not savvy enough to submit stuff to the AUR.

Why in the AUR? I would recommend you grab the 2.3.3 PKGBUILD from Arch and build/install using makepkg.

There is no need for that. Just set up Arch repositories and install the binary package from the "community" (Arch) repository. I just installed it and it works.

I assumed there was some legitimate reason to want 2.3.3 specifically  :P

it doesn't work Windows to Linux on 2.4.0, I need 2.3.3 to work. Are you saying you've tried it with Windows Server to Linux PC?

No. I don't use Windows and recommend against using it, for multiple reasons, the principal one being that it's not Libre software, and one of the main secondary reasons that it's spying on its users, and is in fact malware.

With the binary package, the error you mentioned is not shown.
