Plasma has disabled my 2nd monitor

The newest update has induced weird 2nd monitor behavior. It was simply black at first, but then it actually started disabling the power too. (Standby with amber light)

When logging in, the boot up works on second screen. Once in SDDM, the 2nd monitor goes out.

I had a script to position the 2nd monitor to the right of laptop. When I removed the script the sddm 2nd monitor standby issue seemed resolve itself, but then returned.

Xfce had similar issue, but yanking wires and plugging them back in fixed the issue. 2nd monitor works in xfce consistently now.

When logging into Plasma, the user boots up and opens, then the screen actually turns black, unplugging and replugging does nothing. If I log back into xfce, everything is fine again.

WTF is going on?  How do I fix this?

Logged in to XFCE for giggles and the 2nd monitor is black again too somehow.  Changing the desktop wallpaper allows me to see my 2nd monitor for a brief moment before it turns black on xfce and plasma. The standby issue seemed to be a poorly seated vga to hdmi connector....but the black screen remains.

I don't know how...but it seems to be a cable issue. I bought an hdmi cable and ran it directly to the tv and have a 2nd screen again. Its weird that its been working fine for months and now is an issue after an update though.  I suppose mark this solved....time to dump the old vga monitor i guess.

I notice when switching between hdmi on tv and hdmi/vga dongle to old monitor that activities/desktops changes resolution so you can't read them anymore.  :/
