For me not at all. But then neither does my video driver nor wifi firmware.

Exactly. None of this is answering the sound card question.
Since a terminal-based solution is no longer an option, I just need to know if the external sound card which i posted a link to is a good option.

Yeah, this lack of reasoning will probably make some things worse in the long run because some people simply don't understand the world we live in, and they play right into the adversary's hands by shouting about meaninglessly about abstract concepts that even they don't completely understand.
Before anyone asks i have a librebooted t400 myself, this hopefully settles that potential debate.

Anything will work as long as it's not some obscure Firewire based DAC from 20 years ago :)
So basically any of those cheapo stick sound cards are guaranteed to work.

I didn't add any more as you said you'd already purchased it.
Did you have a look if the missing firmwares are present on the ChromeOS partition (if you have one) ?

I don't have a chromeos parition or recovery image, so those missing firmwares are gone.
I'll mark this as solved and move on to the next project.

Those images can normally be found on the internet if you look hard enough.
The chromebook has to download them from somewhere.
Any way I wish you luck with the USB sound card once it arrives.
