gtx 1650 prospecting for my half height video card needs.

anyone have one of those half height cards from nvidia the 1650.  I see it performs about 30% faster than the rx 6400.  How's those cards on linux?  Any issue with the drivers or and card issues?

Obviously you still haven't understood anything.

Yes i am very well aware of linus torvulds attitude toward nvidia and the reasons behind it.  Hasn't nvidia started releasing opensource code for their code thos the past year or two?

Although they have delivered, my enthusiasm is somewhat limited.

Code: [Select]
world/nvidia-open 525.85.05-5
    NVIDIA open kernel modules
world/nvidia-open-dkms 525.85.05-5

If I'm not wrong it's kinda like AMDGPU, opensource driver but depending on a binary blob for core initialization.

Still better than nothing, at least it will allow some degree of freedom, hopefully as much as AMDGPU does. I haven't been able to see it with real hardware for myself so far. But anyway it should help the fully open source nouveau to some degree, at least to allow them to get 2d accel and basic power management on recent cards.

tomorrow it comes by 10 pm.  hopefully in the am would be nice but doubtful.

https://gpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Nvidia-GTX-1650-vs-AMD-RX-550/4039vs3925

over 200% improved performance boost. looking forward to that.  wish i could pay what the price is listed on the benchmark page for the low profile card, though i didnt pay a lot more.

https://www.amazon.com/GIGABYTE-GeForce-Profile-Graphics-GV-N1656OC-4GL/dp/B087R7V2Q6/ref=sr_1_1?crid=3KWI3C3LV24QP&keywords=1650+low+profile&qid=1677720235&sprefix=1650+low+profile%2Caps%2C78&sr=8-1

almost 30$ off usu price.

so if something is 100% better, that's twice as fast.  if it's 200% better that's 3x as fast.  Thats how i understand that.  Someone care to clarify a different understanding?

thia is alright then? just
Code: [Select]
sudo pacman -S nvidia
and reboot and were off to the races?

ok had to add a few things but they were easily searchable in the pacman database gui tool that i def never install from but only use cli for installing. :)

Nice performance on the 1650 and on par with the windows performance.  no complaints at all there.  Now... what to do with windows?  DELETE IT!
