I searched for similar problems, found them but was unable to solve them with the possible solutions presented.

What happens if you install and run ungoogled-chromium for our Universe repo?

You are using LXQT?
I get the same error when using LXQT Desktop, with xfce its working without errors..
Seems like an update from LXQT causes it but not sure.. dont get much time to look for it

Im using ungoogled-chromium from universe but tried different from aur too (ungoogled-chromium-bin, ungoogled-chromium-xdg-bin) .. same error with LXQT

Still the same problem, I think it's a bug in plasma, I installed xfce to test it, it worked without any problems.

No, using kde, but when testing with xfce no problem occurs, I believe it is some bug in the plasma.

FYI: I'm using ungoogled-chromium on LXQT without issues.

I expect the issue to be in between gtk2/gtk3 and theming. Do you have both gtk2 and gtk3 installed? Also, try with a new user, without any theme setup.

chromium works for many users, so this must be related to some specific settup or package
pls check the previous question and suggestion:

I'm having this issue on two different installations. Starting chrome, chromium or opera in kde (using a fresh user) I see the same exact error.

When using gnome as DE, the issue is not present.

I have both gtk3 and gtk2 installed.

It's messy, but I've tested it with another theme and user and the problem is still there. I'll stick with xfce until I get an update for kde.

Hi,

Chrome works without a issue, but ungoogled-chromium crashes. I have reinstalled both to confirm.
I do not use any special theming on my Xfce.

Re: Chromium and Chrome won't open

So for most the differentiator is the DE, for one ungoogled-chromium.

There is a - slightly - newer version now, built with only the 'standard' patches.
It can be installed using pacman -U https://universe.artixlinux.org/x86_64/ungoogled-chromium-116.0.5845.97-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.zst

I don't expect this to solve the problem, but only testing can confirm.
Then the only option is to report this problem upstream - if not done already - by someone who can reproduce it.

Same reports are here:

Tested.. same error..

What i found is that you can start chromium in the commandline with
Code: [Select]
--disable-features=AllowQt
..
Or put it in chromium-flags.conf ..
This worked for me in LXQT, dont know if this helps..
Maybe something new with QT5?

I've been having this problem and had to revert back to ungoogled-chromium 115.xx.171 before ungoogled-chromium would launch. I recently decided to upgrade the system (I apply updates almost daily before this) and see if it got fixed. Sadly, as of now it has not been, HOWEVER, using full KDE the above commandline option allowed ungoogled-chromium 116.xx.96 to launch successfully.

THANK YOU MOOKiii

I also use qt5. On boxes updated days ago up to a box updated fully a minute ago, all ungoogled-chromium versions run fine, without any flags.

I'll put newly built ungoogled-chromium-116.0.5845.110 in universe, though there is no indication this will fix the startup issue.
