Certain GTK applications freezing using Cinnamon

Applications such as Transmission and Atom-ng don't react unless I change the window size. Input still goes through.

I'm using Cinnamon with dinit.

Try installing lxde and logging into it to test transmission. It's pretty small and just as easily uninstalled. This will rule out whether cinnamon or some library is to blame.

Changing DE to LXDE solved nothing. So some library or anything related to my GPU driver, might be the problem.

Removing xf86-video-intel solved some playback issues, but also created some issues on starting X with later kernels.
I played around with nomodesetting as well, but I haven't found a good solution yet.
