Title: Musl based packages
Post by: mrgreen on 07 November 2019, 15:20:50
What are the chances of Artix going over to use musl? Arch packages are getting more and more larger... likes of linux-firmware and a browser (chromium or firefox) are near 500mbs.

Only my opinion:
That would probably mean breaking compatibility with Arch.
I think it is not possible until we ditch Arch repositories.
Plus, it would require more testing and someone to work on it.

That would probably mean breaking compatibility with Arch.
It will not if *.so from glibc will be used for dynamic linking and all new software will be linked statically with musl. This will increase number of patches however

musl is out of the question, we're already so overloaded with keeping up with Arch as it is that we can't even rework our iso-profiles.
