I'm using a 5 year old core i5 laptop and is getting slow nowadays. One of my friend suggested me a ryzen laptop instead of intel. I don't know much about technical details of laptop. MSI Alpha 15 seems good to me as suggested by my friend. Was wondering for more amd ryzen laptops (https://mylaptopguide.com/best-amd-ryzen-laptops/) that I can consider buying.
Well, our build server (https://forum.artixlinux.org/index.php/topic,887.0.html) runs on Epyc hardware and I recently got my hands on a R7-3700X at work, which I must admit is very, very impressive, running at 65W TDP no less. I won't suggest any specific laptop for you to consider; just go for the fastest Ryzen your money can buy.
This is what I'm currently running Artix on.
Acer Predator Helios 500 PH517-61-R0GX (https://www.amazon.com/Acer-Predator-PH517-61-R0GX-Processor-Graphics/dp/B07GWX5X26/ref=sr_1_3?crid=2MUNWLEFZ66TZ&keywords=predator+helios+500&qid=1574579330&sprefix=predator+he%2Caps%2C132&sr=8-3)
AMD Ryzen 7 2700 Desktop Processor
AMD Radeon RX Vega 56 Graphics
17.3" Full HD 144Hz Radeon FreeSync Display
Upgraded To:
64GB DDR4
2x1TB SSD
Only issue is it recognizing the power adapter is plugged in when in Artix so it tries to throttle the CPU down to 500MHz. You just have to unplug and plug it back in and then it starts running full steam ahead again. Other than that everything worked out of the box for me.
