Title: [SOLVED] numlock at startup
Post by: onekk on 06 February 2020, 18:27:12
Hi to all.

What is the correct way to activate "num lock" with openrc?

I have numlock service active on boot (runlevel) , NumLock LED is on when entering X, but if i puch the key they acting as cursor keys.

I have to push  "Bloc Num"   button  to make it work as expected.

I'm using lightdm and Openbox (No DE).

TIA and  regards.

I strongly believe there is a difference between having numlock active on tty (terminal/console) and within X or Wayland.

Since you are using LightDM you should try ArchWiki.

Yes there is a difference, I suppose that the openrc service is setting it for the console at boot, but when lightdm bring up the X session the LED is not resetted but the keyboard behaviour is set has there is no numlock pressed.

Using the settings in Arch wiki will bring correctly the keyboard behaviour, nw numlock is working as expected.

Many thanks
