Title: Suricata ids/ips on Artix
Post by: Surf3r on 24 April 2021, 16:21:19
Hello again  :) is there any hope suricata ids/ips to be placed in official Artix repos? In arch is not available but only in AUR. And also would be cool if we can have arpon that even on arch is considered outdated (last version is from 2019) but still is better than a bare bone. I know i could try to build them from source but i'm not yet that good at that so i represent the noob point of view used to have almost everything from good old ubuntu. But even on ubuntu, suricata comes from a ppa. Regards  ;)

no, sorry, no suricata in our repo ...
but you can use https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/AUR_helpers for outdated version, or - much better - using outdated PKGBUILD (https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/PKGBUILD) and update it  and build it https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Makepkg :)

it's the perfect opportunity for you to learn how to work a PKGBUILD and make your own package - and even the latest version of suricata  ;)  ;)
that will make you fun and you will learn some new :)
if you need help and have a question about PKGBUILD , we will definitely be happy to help you  ;D

:)  That sounds very good thank you once again! I will look into that, hope the learning curve not to be as long as it was on ubuntu   :)
