Hi,
the Kernel linux-5.12.5.artix1-1-x86_64 did not switch off CPU activity on lid-close / suspend and my Lenovo W500 Model: 4061AR7 did overheat because the CPU-fan got switched off.
It took about 1/2 hour until I noticed a "hot plastic smell".
The left screen hinge and other metal parts where already too hot to touch.
The Notebook did not boot any more.
Luckily after a complete cool down it booted again.
I booted into linux-lts-5.10.37-1-x86_64 which has no suspend problem.
Other hardware may be affected too.
did you updated kernel to 5.12.5 and after you did lid-close / suspend?

yes I updated to kernel 5.12.5, rebooted to it and after that I did a lid-close / suspend.
The suspend looked good. Display got off, fan got off. No sign that anything got wrong.
FWIW, 5.12 looks like a complete disaster of a kernel. A box running on Athlon X4-845 didn't even boot after updating to 5.12, reverted to previous 5.11 one.

I heard about those patches, but thought they were already reverted. Apparently not.
Personally, no problems manifested on my systems, even with 5.12. In any case, the blame for any potential problems is on the Linux (kernel) maintainers.
