There is Zathura. It uses modular backends, allowing you to choose which formats you wish for it to support. For now this is only available in Arch's community repository.

Then there is mupdf. Zathura can use mupdf  backend for it's basic PDF/ePub/OpenXPS support, this is available in Artix galaxy repository.

Both function in much the same way. No GUI to speak of, defaults to vi key bindings and keyboard-centric use.

I am using atril.
Not really lightweight (10.96MiB installed), but fast and convenient.

qpdfview is a more lightweight solution (3.25 MiB installed).

I also use zathura + mupdf + zathura-pdf-mupdf.

However, back in the day I used gv (it's in the world repo). It doubles as a .ps viewer.

For best results, I recommend Evince. Perfect search engine.
If you want to use something lightweight, use qpdfview. Easy on resources, but it's harder regarding search of documents.
