Title: Scan program for Epson XP-312
Post by: Roberto on 27 June 2021, 13:38:28
Hello all,

I am using an Epson XP-312 printer and have installed Epson Image Scan (iscan and iscan-data) for the scan function up to now.
Now, when I consequently try not to use the Arch repositories, these packages are not available.
Will these packages be added to the Artix repositories in the future or are there alternatives I can install?

Since I use plasma as my desktop, I have already tried skanlite, but the program crashes as soon as I try to initiate a scan.
Simple-Scan works fine, but it has the small flaw that it is not integrated into the appearance of Artix.  ;D  8)

I look forward to your ideas and suggestions.

Many greetings
Roberto

Unfortunately iscan and iscan-data are no longer available in arch and even in aur.
I use simple-scan on Artix myself; what issue exactly do you have with simple-scan?

It is not an issue or a problem that I have with simple-scan.
It's really just an unimportant cosmetic issue, as the program doesn't fit well into the design of Plasma Artix.
So more than a luxury problem and is not really one.

I just like it when the theme is coherent.

simple-scan indeed is no beauty, but other ones I tried either did not work, crashed or (skanlite) could not write pdf.
Did you try kolourpaint? It has a scan function that uses sane, and might be worth a try.

I have just installed and tested Kolourpaint. It's not bad, but Simple-Scan is better.
I think I will stick with this program and see past the integration into the theme.

For 20 years I have been using xsane.
Its "vintage" appearance is very nice  8)

Do you mean the package "imagescan-plugin-networkscan" from the aur?
This package depends on imagescan and pacman could not install imagescan, because it is not found.
Code: [Select]
==> ERROR: 'pacman' could not install missing dependencies.
==> Missing dependencies:
  -> imagescan
And then:
Code: [Select]
Unable to build imagescan-plugin-networkscan - makepkg exited with code: 8
I think I will get used to simple-scan now.

I use gscan2pdf, which IIRC can export to many formats (despite its name), and integrates well with the global dark theme. It has also got many, many nifty features.
