I really like the Cinnamon desktop.  It is simple and traditional.  While using Cinnamon, I have never given much thought to gtk3.

Gnome, on the other hand, is a steaming pile of dog poop.  By ruining Gnome, the Gnome developers are responsible for the creation of Cinnamon, Budgie, Mate, and probably some other desktop environments.

At the time, when Gnome3 came out, I preferred to choose another graphical environment: XFCE + Dolphin

I do not hate gtk3, but prefer not to use it unless necessary. I seem to be a dedicated KDE Plasma user, so qt is what I tend to prefer. To each his/her own as I see it. Linux rocks!

I also dislike Gtk.  Therefore I try to use Qt-based software wherever possible.
