ok first of all gonna start with this. im stupid. not the biggest linux nerd idk how a lot of shit works.
so, ive been trying to get easyeffects to run but whenever i boot it up im met with this error
(easyeffects:5236): Adwaita-WARNING **: 21:21:28.363: Using GtkSettings:gtk-application-prefer-dark-theme with libadwaita is unsupported. Please use AdwStyleManager:color-scheme instead.
(easyeffects:5236): easyeffects-ERROR **: 21:21:28.384: pipe_manager: context connection failed
Trace/breakpoint trap
ive tried to find solutions to this but nothing, i asked on the easyeffects github about only to get the really vague " This kind of error usually happens when something is broken or missing in PipeWire." which also lead to nothing.
im on openrc. im stupid, help
so can we assume you have adwaita installed then? You would likely need to build it from the aur...
If the dev is telling you that something is broken in pipewire it's likely you will need to wait until that something is fixed upstream and there's no amount of hacking and slashing on our end that will resolve the issue.

Is that what your install looked like?
At what point did you get the error from easyeffects? I'm trying to reproduce the error to see it on my pc.

ive had this since ever. this is my 2nd attempt to this, first one was last year and had that error then. ive never managed to make this run ever lol
installation looks error free. how do you get the error? what are you using?
adwaita is in the world repository of artix
how do i use easy effects to produce your error?
does it run standalone or within another program?
easyeffects
(easyeffects:16538): easyeffects-ERROR **: 13:04:52.508: pipe_manager: context connection failed
Trace/breakpoint trap
def looks like pipewire is broken. it's still pretty new may take some time for them to sort it out upstream.
your assumption was correct yes. whats the "it" your referring to, adwaita?
i put
easyeffects
on the command line and get the error pretty simple.
terminal: konsole
shell: bash
init: openrc
aight idk how relevant those questions are but ill still awsner.
it runs standalone. i just run the program to get the error.
as of the note of pipewire being broken, well shit
im building pulseeffects-legacy from the aur now to see if it will run. almost done. give me a sec to see if it will run.
135/136. a moment more to know.
it's a bit slow on my machine but i got to a gui. want to try that?
yay -S pulseeffects-lagacy
10 minutes to build... try it?
i tried the reverb and it def works.
i got dishes to wash. try it out and report back..
so uhhh tried both from the aur and building from source i cant get it to work, idk if i did something wrong or anything.
sorry for the delay.

for long outputs we should really use pastebin.com or the like so that others reading can follow allong with scrolling through all that in the forum...
basically you go to your paste site and post the text and you get a link to the posted text and you post the link. tedious a bit but the polite thing to do.
aight bad news lol

Aww! that's as cute as a bun? Adorbs!
I'm out of ideas. Maybe a dev could offer a clue more?
Sudo inxi -Fxzm let me see your setup
really suprised you havent given up yet, really appriciate it
https://pastebin.com/XiMHMMPD

Sound Server-4: PipeWire v: 0.3.49 running: no
so what i see here is you are using the internal audio built into your motherboard and a usb audio device and it looks like you have alsa and pulseaudio running but not pipewire.
So we should think about disabling the audio device you are not using. setting up pipewire and not using pulse if you wish to use easyeffects....
yah?
also i see in your report you don't have dmidecode installed you could install that though it's not stictly necessary. i do use it it's a nice to have i think
https://forum.artixlinux.org/index.php/topic,3837.0.html this topic looks relevant to those tasks.
easyeffects works for me with an openrc init (which should not matter but I thought I'd mention it)
I also get the warning:
Adwaita-WARNING **: 21:21:28.363: Using GtkSettings:gtk-application-prefer-dark-theme with libadwaita is unsupported. Please use AdwStyleManager:color-scheme instead.
if I start from the terminal.
I doubt installing legacy versions from AUR will help.
Sorry I have only skimmed the thread.
Are you sure pipewire is running ?
I start it with the following ~/.xinitrc
pipewire &
/usr/bin/pipewire-pulse &
/usr/bin/pipewire-media-session &
exec dbus-launch --exit-with-session startplasma-x11
If you use an display manager I believe you have to use ~/.xprofile instead, or some other method ?
I use pipewire-media-session rather than wireplumber as wireplumber had issues (which may be fixed now? I haven't checked).
sorry for the inactivity today my motivation is really decreasing for this but i will look into that thread EVENTUALLY. there something fucked up in pipewire so thats fonna be useful
According to inxi pipewire isnt running
