Title: Password manager that works with OpenRC?
Post by: Melancholy on 20 September 2022, 14:48:16
Hey there,

I recently wanted to use the Gnome program Passbook (https://wiki.gnome.org/Apps/Passbook), which is a graphical password manager. It installed fine, however it is stuck on an endless loading screen once opened.

When started via the terminal emulator, the output returns:

Code: [Select]
[ERROR] 2022-09-20 14:44:46 SecretsHelper::on_get_service(): g-dbus-error-quark: The name org.freedesktop.secrets was not provided by any .service files (2)

I assume this is related to the lack of systemd.
I use OpenRC; does anyone know a good free software (GPL licensed) graphical password manager that does not depend on systemd shenanigans?

I have found Revelation (https://revelation.olasagasti.info/) to work very well now. I will still keep this topic up though, I guess, for people looking for this in the future or for general discussion about password managers.
