Not many openbox fans are aware of this gem, so creating menus is easier for us. This video showcases obmenu2 in cbpp which is systemd based, and infact i created a theme based off this theme using artix linux openrc which was my first attempt at openbox / xinit. Unfortunately because of issues with file transfer dialogues not being fully accurate ( the loading animation, and transfer stats werent fullly functional) i switched back to plasma but i do plan on taking another swing at it soon.

I used to use Openbox back in the 2012 and I loved it. I was an Crunchbang and Manjaro user just because of that and in those days obmenu-generator was the tool to get a dynamic, automatic and costumizable menu. THeir strong point in this case is that it doesn´t have systemd dependencies because it was created before the systemd existed.

Also, the best part is that is just an script that use perl, one of the best language to control text manipulation related to linux systems. The main structure of the menu is just a pretty simple but easy to figure out perl file called "schema.pl" and just with an command you get a functional menu. I suggest to give it a try. :D
