Title: sndio does not find the sound card

I have sndiod daemon running. But, sndioctl does not find the sound card, even though the documentation says it will use the first alsa card.

default: can't open control device

$ sudo sndioctl 
default: can't open control device

What about sndiod logs?
IIRC when i used sndio myself i passed soundcard to it explicitly
