When you hover on user names you see:
That is the default, why doesn't show Artix or Linux?
How do you change that? I looked in profile.
Imagine people thinking we all use...
Most likely user agent spoofing. There are browser add-ons that do that. It makes fingerprinting harder.
100% user agent spoofing in my case. I never use a linux user agent on firefox.
I didn't notice the IP.
Is that that set browser and OS?
A little lost? Let me explain:
Your IP address is shown only to you and moderators. Remember that this information is not identifying, and that most IPs change periodically.
You cannot see other members' IP addresses, and they cannot see yours.
I am lost about user agent spoofing and what sets browser and os since I don't see a setting.
check User-Agent Switcher and Manager (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/user-agent-string-switcher/) addons.
This is one of the most common ways to change user agent on the fly.
many privacy browser like librewolf, assign a common user agent by default.
I see so maybe is it best for the forum to not display those info?

It is not very important but I care, if it can be easily removed why not?
Sorry must have drunk !
I don't care.
But you are entitled to.
I think it only shows what the user agent said when you made the post, it isn't fixed for all posts you made. It might be worth noting (although I'm sure those intentionally spoofing here know this and how to compensate for it if required) that if you tell websites you are using Windows they might give you the Windows compatible version of the site or at least a portion of it's code if it differs from the Linux one, which could cause problems sometimes. The user agent is only one aspect of feature detection webcode can use, so a site itself might correct the issue, and you can set up user agent exceptions for certain websites if needed.
My issue with all these Windows 10 posts is... how come you haven't upgraded to 11 by now??? :D
