Title: [SOLVED] Failed to prepare transaction
Post by: fixrman on 26 November 2023, 20:29:58
When I try to update, I get the following:

:: Starting full system upgrade...
:: Replace appstream-qt with world/appstream-qt5? [Y/n]
:: Replace kdsoap with world/kdsoap-qt5? [Y/n]
:: Replace kuserfeedback with world/kuserfeedback5? [Y/n]
:: Replace libkdcraw with world/libkdcraw5? [Y/n]

warning: rsync-openrc: local (20210505-2) is newer than world (20210502-1)
resolving dependencies...
looking for conflicting packages...
error: failed to prepare transaction (could not satisfy dependencies)
:: installing kxmlgui5 (5.112.0-1) breaks dependency 'kxmlgui' required by libkipi
:: installing kservice5 (5.112.0-1) breaks dependency 'kservice' required by libkipi

It doesn't matter if I select yes or no for replacements, and dependency issues have been present for well over a month. I usually just wait for a resolution, but this has gone on for some times now. Is there something pending?

check the aur page (https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/libkipi)

Quote
and everyone else: please kindly uninstall kipi-plugins, libkipi and libmediawiki-git, because they are defunct, deprecated, and not used by any application.

Thank you. Removing libkipi allowed the update to proceed.
