Title: Not sure where to put this, need asusctl but it requires systemd
Post by: emi45k on 21 December 2023, 06:42:40
Hi, new here. Loving Artix. I have an ASUS GA401IV(Zephyrus G14) and I need either asusctl/asusd or an alternative that works with OpenRC. I recently updated it and it refuses to change profile because I don't have systemd. I have an OpenRC init script that's supposed to start but asusd won't start unless it's called from systemd, which is really annoying. I don't know why they've gone down this route but it seems like they have, and I don't know what to do about it. I don't want to install a systemd distro because I'm happy and content with Artix. If someone could please help, I'd be so grateful. Thanks!

have you seen these two posts?

  • Contributing to the Artix repos (asusctl) (https://forum.artixlinux.org/index.php/topic,4693.msg29994.html)
  • Installing Artix on Asus gaming laptop series g1513QY (https://forum.artixlinux.org/index.php/topic,4651.msg37034.html)
Yes I have, but none of them supply an init file(I have one already), but the new issue is, with the new update, they changed how it works so it requires it ran through systemd. I don't know how they did it but having an openrc init script doesn't work anymore :(
