I would love to hear everyone's opinion on this subject. To get an idea, you can take a look at some of the questions below, or you can simply share whatever comes up first in your mind.
Here are some random questions to get the discussion started:
- What kind of smartphone do you own?
- What are you doing with your smartphone?
- What are some smartphone specific killer features that you cannot live without?
- If you could change one thing about smartphones what would it be?
- Smartphones vs. PC's/laptops - Which one do you prefer and why?
- What are your thoughts on people who say "I don't have a PC/laptop?"
I don't have a smartphone, even though every grandma and kid uses one in France.
Currently I have an iPhone 15. I don't like it. My last phone was a Pixel 4a. Didn't like that either.

Don't burn me at the stake for saying this, but I'd bring back Windows Phone. And not Windows Mobile 10 or whatever Microsoft's last attempt at a mobile OS was, but Windows Phone 7. The last phone I liked was my HTC 7 Pro. I found everything about it so intuitive in ways that Android and iOS have failed to match even in the last 10 years since I last used that phone.
Desktop 100%. My desktop is configured exactly how I like it and has virtually no compromises. My phone, on the other hand, doesn't know what "I want autocorrect disabled" means. There's a setting for it but it doesn't respect it. Just as an example.
Maybe this is harsh to say, but I think they're the reason smartphones peaked 10 years ago. I don't care to elaborate.
I have a PinePhone with Artix (ARMtix).
Hardware is not the best...
And the cameras still do not work properly.
It would be nice to run something like the Fairphone 5 with mainline and full support.
Something is working https://wiki.postmarketos.org/wiki/Fairphone.
