Title: Zen Browser available in omniverse repository
Post by: Artist on 20 January 2025, 19:12:36
The Zen Browser is now available in the omniverse repository as package zen-browser.

The Zen browser is a community driven project that is built on the latest Firfox version.

Its headlines read:
Quote
Beautifully designed, privacy-focused, and packed with features.
We care about your experience, not your data.
...
Experience tranquillity while browsing the web without people tracking you! Zen is a privacy-focused browser that blocks trackers, ads, and other unwanted content while offering the best browsing experience!

Its features are explained on https://zen-browser.app/

One of these is Zen Mods, which is a collection of themes and plugins for Zen Browser which are available on https://zen-browser.app/mods/

A specific characteristic from the FAQ: Zen Browser will not support horizontal tabs in the near future. The decision to focus on Vertical Tabs is a core design choice, with the entire Zen Browser experience built around this concept. This approach is intended to maximize screen space and improve navigation, making vertical tabs an essential part of Zen’s philosophy.

For the User Manual, FAQ and more, check https://docs.zen-browser.app/

Currently language packs de/fr/nl are available as packages for the Zen browser for Artix Linux but others can be added on request.

An upstream issue with the Zen browser has been reported here:

   https://github.com/zen-browser/desktop/discussions/5907 (https://github.com/zen-browser/desktop/discussions/5907)

In anticipation of the fix, the Zen package in the omniverse repository - zen-browser-1.11.2b-3-x86_64.pkg.tar.zst - has been modified so it will not trigger the issue mentioned.
