Hey all,
Doing a bit of investigating and Arch has apparently gone full politics. Today they announced they're leaving X because "nazis." I'm looking for an Arch derivative that isn't run by woke clowns. Is Artix gonna follow in Arch's footsteps or am I good to switch?
Hold on, I'll make popcorn
Artix is about freedom in using inits and more, not by following Arch but diversing from it.
artist
so, Artix does not take a stand regarding Nazi's?
Source?
Update: Never mind. I found this:

Debian did this before Arch. I don't use twitter. So, It's not a big deal for me.

When I try to go to the Artix X (formerly Twitter) page from the link here:

Well that's not happening obviously. :D I could be tempted to declare them a bunch of nazis just for not letting me view that!
Meta took Facebook and Twitter down this members only walled garden path and Musk has continued and not reversed it. The original attraction of social media was having an outlet to reach the wider public. Everybody could see the pages and they were popular platforms to advertise businesses and organizations. Now they are making themselves into something different that no longer suits this purpose. Also Arch Linux is Canadian based, and if you have been following recent events then Canada and the US govt of which Elon Musk is now part of have been somewhat at odds. So there is probably more to this than the stated reason.
Artix users are brought together by their enthusiasm for Artix Linux but have a wide range of views on other subjects, and typically treat each other respectfully and concentrate on technical and scientific cooperation. Should you agree with your friends on everything anyway? Seems unlikely.
There are currently many groups who are defined as Nazis by others. It's also interesting to consider that the racial discrimination exhibited by the original National Socialists was by no means unique in history, and other political parties in many countries engaged in similar activities in the past but have since evolved. Indeed some groups that define themselves as neo-nazis may differ in various regards from the original National Socialist policies, many of which are not what people imagine in any case and can be found in ideology which is now classified as "woke."
Haven't found anything overtly political from artix people in the entire time I've browsed these forums (5 years now?). Every now and then politics rams itself in here via a user but things usually go away eventually.
Although I'm tempted to comment on what's been said I also like that this place is relatively politics free so I'll just keep my opinions to myself :P
Though one thing I will say as a canadian, is that it's sad to see that arch has people in it's admin who believe nonsense about people like musk and trump, while canada has problems of its own which far outweigh anything that a trump administration has done or in my opinion ever will do. Trudeau is a far worse villain than their insane "nazi" nonsense.
"Y-you aren't on my side! You must be [reads note] a n-n-n-n-n-n-n-nazi!"
B please, it's tiring, nobody's gon fall for this tactic yet again.
Got the beers. Wanna share? Wha're we watching anyways?
🥸
To pick least volatile example, I never had an impression that it matters at all which of two sexes you are or with whom you are sleeping privately. Discuss... 🥸
/chipping in for popcorn and beer
Some play fascists (X), others play leftist (arch, debian, etc.), and their roots are their common-capitalism. I am forced to vomit from all these dramas ....
So many of the words for extremism have become diluted beyond the point of having any modern use other than providing another outlet for virtue signallers to make themselves feel righteous.
I was forced to do yet another Safeguarding course last week and the newest thing that was apparently in the pipeline was the classification of groups like 'Just Stop Oil' and 'Extinction Rebellion' as 'Terrorist' organizations. They are pretty annoying imho , turning up en masse in Diesel minibuses to block a road or chuck orange powder on Stonehenge etc. But they are not 'Terrorists'. It's ridiculous.
I think Artix community cares more about having init freedom (or not having a soystemd init) more than anything. With that I'd say we don't care if even you are an actual descendant of Hitler or Churchill.
Arch Discord isn't official. Arch uses IRC and the their forum if I remember correctly. And I think it's the same for other distros' Discord channels.
Discord and other social medias are run by the authoritarian left. And they've created their echo chamber and cult indoctrination camps on those sites through astroturfing/subversion and weaponized/targeted moderation/censorship. So it's best to ignore the lamentations from those bugmen unless actually stated from the official communication channels.
All in all I think the Artix is an open-minded great community. An actual "diverse and inclusive" community if you will. As per #######'s statement:
I agree and think that this statement is reflective of the Artix community as a whole.
Unlike Debian, Arch is fairly neutral (those discord servers and telegram channels aren't officially controlled by Arch staff, neither advertised as such by Arch). Most Arch devs and packagers are alright too, only a notable exception of a moron or two comes to mind.
The Artix team is comprised of people with various backgrounds from all around the world and we manage to get along fairly well without a CoC, despite our strong opinions. It's called merit, reasoning, common sense and humor. Artix is neither 'woke' nor 'based' and everybody is welcome, so long as they don't cause (much) trouble. Personal beliefs aside, sometimes sneaking out of their cage, we have to remain neutral and apolitical as a distro, because politics is a malignant tumor which eventually consumes its host.
i can't tell who is woke or not. it's not my business.
i can only say it's 7 pm and i'm nearly asleep. i nodded off reading this thread. g'nite
Thank you guys, this community is based.
I DO wanna share. Thanks you.
I got this hybrid popcorn from the other side of the state. And the butter is from the only dairy in the state that makes it's own cream. I hope you enjoy.
We watching a clown show... and I suggest friend you stand away from me, because I don't want you hit with whatever might get thrown. ;D
I rise in defense of, what I see as, ARTIX's clear prioritization of DEI and 'woke'.
Name another distro that supports such Diversity and Equality of treatment, and Inclusion, in init systems.
You can't.
I think it is clear one of the great strengths of ARTIX is it's refusal to submit to a white male systemd init, and instead support a Diverse set of init architectures Equally and Inclusively.
ARTIX is unique in this strong support of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.
It is also notable that ARTIX is a world wide distribution, but based out of Germany, A country famous for it's Fascistic history, but now is a leader in the world in supporting such radical socialist ideas as 'Healthcare as a Human Right', funded by the state, radical growth of, and investment in, green energy, and strong support of the ideas and powerful results of DEI. So we should not really be surprised.
Clearly, not being compliant with the dominant init system is a strength of ARTIX and it developers. They, seemingly effortlessly, deconstruct the dependency on a monolithic majority init system, and subversively support every init that is shown to have merit, like DEI does.
I think this effort should be understood as deeply important to the 'Art of Linux', (themself, notably a communist from a very socialist nation that also happens to be, objectively, the happiest people on earth.)
Linux itself supports Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, caring only if you can do the job.
And, really, not even caring if you are the best at it, because we still allow other inits that are not dinit. 8)
Thank you for your attention.
They had a public healthcare program in Germany since 1873, Hitler improved it and rolled it out to the countries he conquered as well, National Socialists, remember. Eugenics, removal of elements seen as undesirable to the breeding stock, was apparently an extension of that, stretching the logic of healthcare to extreme levels. And they were also environmentalists. For all it's flaws, many of which they were able to hide to a great degree at the time, it was a functioning government that managed to retain the obedience of sufficient people to keep control.
What has this stupid witch hunt to do with freedom of choice we support?
