Title: Fresh install - can log in as root. Can't log in as user
Post by: VariousMarbles on 18 February 2025, 21:14:23
Hi all,
Fresh install on my laptop.  I can log in as root, plasma loads up no problem.  Can't load up the desktop as user.
Changed my user password.  Still no good.
ctrl+alt+f1 I can log in as user.

Still can't log in with the desktop.

I'm a linux noob, what am I missing here?

Thanks,
VM

It is wayland - but no joy when I changed the setting.
Edit: Changing to X11 does let me log in, so it might still be some wayland weirdness.
Works with either as root

Actually, I bopped back and forth between breeze and oxygen a few times, and that seemed to do it.

Thank you very much!
