Title: System freezes
Post by: Tu71YE on 15 March 2025, 01:34:01
My system locks up, usually needing to be restarted with power button. This may happen shortly after startup or after some time.  It may just freeze (even the tray clock stops advancing) and not respond to clicks or keystrokes, although the cursor can be moved around.  Other times the screen goes black.  A couple of times, the frozen system responded to ctl-alt-F1, and restart lightdm restored a responsive desktop.

Playing a video in librewolf often, but not always, causes this.  But it happens with falkon, or when no browser is in use.

Log files with entries after the time of the last crash are attached.

Init is runit.
Edit:  this began after an update on Mar 7.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Possibly related to this (https://forum.artixlinux.org/index.php/topic,7614.0.html).

Thanks for that link.  As it suggests, I tried downgrading amd-ucode and mesa, but the problem persisted.  Then I ran a timeshift restore to February...and still it freezes.  Some lib is corrupted?  Since downgrading didn't work,  I ran pacman -Syu and so far haven't had a freeze.  Librewolf plays videos, but the image is completely scrozzled.  Falkon is ok.  So the system is usable for now.  I expect some future upgrade will fix the Librewolf issue.
