Title: Forum Translation
Post by: Worm_Jim on 03 July 2025, 18:08:26
Hello. In your profile settings you can select your preferred forum language from the following options: English, French, German, Spanish.

I want to translate the forum into Russian. How can I do this?

What does Yandex have to do with it?

If you meant interface translation than it is already exists. There's https://translations.elkarte.net/. But installation of language packs is up to forum administration I believe.

Thank you very much!

Gentlemen administrators with the authority to install a language pack, could you add a pack for the Russian language?

I am not an administrator so cannot alter the forum itself, but if you go to Yandex Translate, set the boxes to English and Russian, paste in the forum website address on the left hand English box, then click on the link it provides in the Russian box on the right, the forum will open in a new tab and it will all be translated to Russian, and any subsequent posts on the page you click on will also be translated to Russian. So this answers your question, how do I translate the forum to Russian, and provides a functioning solution using the means available to us at this time.  If the language pack is added here it may also be helpful for you to know how to do this so you can translate other websites you may encounter.

When switching to English, French, German, Spanish, the forum is translated into the selected language, but when choosing Russian, the forum is still in English.

Same for Greek. I don't know what gives, perhaps the default forum theme has something hard-coded?

[EDIT] Yup, that was it. Feel free to request any language you want (https://translations.elkarte.net/) while we're at it.

I know that there are several poles here, so Polish would be appreciated.

If we randomly change the default language, it will slow down the trolls...

or maybe not.

Thank you very much! It's a pity, but the sections and their descriptions on the forum are not translated, everything else is picked up.
