Title: onboard funktion fault
Post by: Thats_me on 07 July 2025, 08:56:50
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Hello,

I use the on-screen keyboard tool onboard. Unfortunately, the insertion of text components does not work.
Instead, the editing mode is called.

Normal behavior is. I create "text building blocks" these are stored in a list.
Click the button below right with the 3 lines -> Click on the "text building block" -> Text is inserted in document.
In Artix the editing mode appears instead. It works perfectly on MX Linux.

I found many entries for onboard. For example in /usr/share/help/C/onboard/. Also configuration files (?) in
/usr/share/onboard/

There are too many files to find the differences in MX and Artix, I am not able to change this behavior and configuration.
Can anyone help me?

Just copy over the files from MX. Go in this order, restart onboard after each one:
1. /usr/share/glib-2.0/schemas/org.onboard.gschema.xml
2. /usr/share/gnome-shell/extensions/
3. /usr/share/onboard/layouts/
4. /usr/share/onboard/scripts/

Hallo nous,

thank you.
/usr/share/gnome-shell/extensions/ does not exist in MX.

In the Internet search I read the gnome-shell/extensions in some Distributions is in  ~/.local/share/gnome-shell/extensions/.
But this folder also do not exist in MX.

All the other folders you wrote I found in MX.
