Normally working webcam was plugged into the USB port, for both run tests.

I had similar issues with cheese, webcamoid, zbar, python opencv and some other webcam app I tried from the AUR. From looking around I thought this might be related, but not sure: https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/pipewire/pipewire/-/issues/4842 Do you also use pipewire?
Not a pipewire user (that I know of). Will check it out - - -
Luckily "kamoso" is still working, as a webcam app. It looks similar to guvcview.
Tried guvcview again and at least I can see the camera image now - something about it improved.
Will try the other Apps that you listed.
It must be something else then. Webcamoid fails to stop, zbar as well, they are responsive while using but on quit the process remains. I just tried kamoso, it has a black image and does not record anything, freezes on stopping recording a completely black video. guvcview doesn't show the image for me, and I just did a full system update and reboot, just in case. I'll retry in a clean user profile
