Title: New Firefox beta
Post by: conky60 on 29 September 2017, 14:56:05
Firefox 57 beta is out and available from the AUR. I am testing it out now and I am so far quite impressed. I have been a Chromium and now Inox user but the new Firefox Beta is a considerable improvement from previous versions from my viewpoint.
Anyone interested should give it a try...there is a "firefox-beta-bin" so no compiling is necessary. 8)

Best regards.

Yes, firefox-beta-bin and firefox-nightly both currrently need pulseaudio. There used to be an extension to push streams to mpv/youtube-dl or any other specified program; unfortunately, it is not webextension compatible. :/

There are alternatives like waterfox that have alsa support baked in.

No!

yaourt apulse

apulse firefox

in about:config add /dev/snd/ to security.sandbox.content.write_path_whitelist
It's important to keep / at the end ( /dev/snd/)

There is ff 58 and 59 out on Aur
I am one version back on Palemoon and I have yet to visit a site that gave me any problems.
I think Mozilla is spitting out versions faster than any team can audit.  It is a security nightmare.
