Title: Can runtime dependency "xdg-desktop-portal-gtk" be removed from gtk4
Post by: kixik on 04 October 2025, 06:31:42
Currently world/gtk4 has a runtime dependency on xdg-desktop-portal-gtk which seems better as an optional dependency, given portal is not actually required, is it?  This implies a chain of dependencies which is not really required, unless actually wanting to use a desktop portal.

Thanks !

This was done upstream in Arch (https://gitlab.archlinux.org/archlinux/packaging/packages/gtk4/-/issues/14). People are complaining so they might revert it.
