MATE/LXDE Questions

Hi all,
Another new Artix user here, though i have yet to replace my main ArchLabs with it. I have always appreciated the non-systemd concept but had no motive to try Artix till i discovered the MATE/LXDE edition (not a fan of Qt). Like another user, i am toying with the idea of removing MATE but have some questions first.

I quite like the 3D look in apps where boxes are to be filled with text. Gthumb comes to mind. Does that come from MATE? Would it be all flat on LXDE alone?

It seems this LXDE is GTK2. Any interest in using the GTK3 version available in the Arch repos for this build? Would there be a conflict if i installed that alongside this one?

Thanks much!

If you remove packages that are in the cache (although they might not be there on a fresh install)  they won't be downloaded again so there's no problem reinstalling. Keep a record of  the packages that are removed, or look in /var/log/pacman.log. But desktop things could affect boot. Chrooting from an iso or another partition to use pacman may be required then.
