Extreme Home Folder Pollution

Hi,

When one choses KDE Plasma Desktop, (s)he is faced with- let me say it- gigantic Home Folder dot file pollution that consist of a very huge number of other desktop environment specific software: bunch of MATE, GTK, openbox and many more of those desktop specific software, that have absolutely no place to be installed under KDE. Yet my Home folder is polluted with a huuuuge number of dot files from other DEs. Please fix it in the next ISO release.

There are also non dot folders with bunch of files in "stock" Home Folder that look like there was another user and he created them, ie besides standard Documents, Downloads, Music, Videos there are also two folders called: shared_proto_db (with bunch of crap inside it) and VideDecodeStats with bunch of crap inside it.

If you have any Gtk based software, (such as chromium-based browsers, firefox, etc.) you will by necessity have the gtk configs. You should be able to completely strip Gtk from your system, (like for example KaOS does), but it limits the choice of software substantially. Even KaOS allows for the use of Gtk based programs such as chromium/firefox.

A google search will reveal what "shared_proto_db" and "VideoDecodeStats" folders are about.

Best regards.
We should try to be kind to everyone.....we are all fighting some sort of battle.

So are you saying that doing a GUI install from one of the ISOs also installs a bunch of unrelated configuration files/folders from other DEs?

Maybe some tweaking to move config files to ~/.config might be possible.
