[SOLVED] Why wasn't linux updated to 5.8.1 while linux-zen was?

Why doesn't linux get all arch's updates? For example, on Artix linux kernel are updated like this: 5.7.8, 5.7.10, 5.7.12. On Arch they're updated like 5.7.8, 5.7.9, 5.7.10 etc. Same thing happened with linux-zen previously because it didn't get 5.7.12 and was updated 5.7.11 --> 5.8.1.
Have a nice day!

because different maintainers.

I skipped 5.7.12 because I knew it would come out very soon 5.8. kernel.
We save our infrastructure and we save the planet ;-)

don't look for anything in it, we just skipped some (mostly) less important updates.

So linux in Artix repos will only be updated to 5.8 branch when 5.8.2 is released in Arch repos?

it will be updated when his maintainer decides for update it.  do not look for any system in it. It is possible that 5.8.1 will be available soon, but i don't maintaine it.

If you need the latest version, use linux-zen. I update it more often.
I personally don't see anything important at all on 5.8.1 - https://lwn.net/Articles/828518/
