Artix or Arch Linux which is much Safer? 27 November 2020, 15:35:57 Hey guys, I am an Arch Linux user for about 3years now, I recently made the switch From Arch Linux to Artix, last post I made about runit version which I have been using it for almost a week now and really love it, I noticed Artix is slightly more faster than Arch Linux, but one question I kept asking myself is can I trust this system? I don't really know too much about Artix and how do they get the source from Arch and built the own distro, or are the distro also approved or made by Arch Linux team I'm not sure because of my lack of knowledge, the wiki seems really legit. also run the top command and port I don't see any connection been made, the system looks really clean. And the reason why I'm using Artix is because I watch the guy who making linux videos: Luke Smith I think he using Artix like for almost a year now, so I finally also choose this distro everything seems really great. sorry for posting long story, if anyone using Artix please reply what you think, is this system more secure?

Reply #1 – 27 November 2020, 16:07:20 I think it I will choose Artix for now because it works without systemd and it just works right out the box, and for Arch Linux distro I think it is also really great, I also really hope more and more people use Artix, so that's my opinions.
Re: Artix or Arch Linux which is much Safer? Reply #2 – 27 November 2020, 17:00:29 You made the right choice. ;-)Not using systemd adds to a more secure system.Security is also about how you use the system and external software, repos', sites, etc.If you want to read up on what you can do make the system itself more secure, search for 'linux hardening' in your browser's search engine.
Re: Artix or Arch Linux which is much Safer? Reply #3 – 27 November 2020, 17:08:52 Well Arch offers linux-hardened and we don't so it's not hard to argue that Arch would actually be more secure. Security is mostly what you make it though.
Re: Artix or Arch Linux which is much Safer? Reply #4 – 27 November 2020, 17:25:32 both systems use the same code for the programs. Both are equally safe.

P.S. I quickly introduce Artix Linux at the start of each of my Youtube videos.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4qfqTYLATcI 1 Likes
Re: Artix or Arch Linux which is much Safer? Reply #6 – 28 November 2020, 10:41:16 I think, arch isn't more unsafe than artix, I agree with alium. However, the issue is, systemd has a larger attack surface. 2 Likes
Re: Artix or Arch Linux which is much Safer? Reply #7 – 30 November 2020, 03:59:21 If you are interested in exploring system hardening, you can review the STIG or Standard Technical Implementation Guide for Ubuntu from DISA using their "STIG Viewer." It is essentially a guide on how to configure Ubuntu to remove or mitigate vulnerabilities. Since it is not based on Arch or Artix Linux, not all of it will apply but it is the STIG the aligns more closely to Artix Linux versus RHEL or Oracle Linux. Also, some of the solutions are a painful, so moderate them to fit your needs. Alternatively, you can use the unaffiliated stigviewer.com website instead of the zip file and viewer.https://dl.dod.cyber.mil/wp-content/uploads/stigs/zip/U_CAN_Ubuntu_18-04_LTS_V2R1_STIG.ziphttps://stigviewer.com
