linux kernel 6.8 and an i7-7700 08 April 2024, 14:11:42 So when liquorix released 6.8 i got kernel panics and then artix updated to 6.8 and i got my machine locking up on me.So now i have busted down those kernels to LTs and that seems to work well. I guess this is the new normal for my i7-7700 pc. When the LTs reaches 6.8 i guess my machine is done on linux?
Re: linux kernel 6.8 and an i7-7700 Reply #1 – 08 April 2024, 14:55:46 It seems to be affecting intel platforms? I'm on R5 1600af and "it works on my machine" kekw. But well, I've been using several VMs in the background (compiling code in vs2022) + debugging inside wine, so my PC gets loaded up pretty good and it's been fairly stable, I haven't notice any hiccups as of yet and I'm using 6.8.2-zen, updating to 6.8.4-zen right now. 1 Likes
Re: linux kernel 6.8 and an i7-7700 Reply #2 – 08 April 2024, 15:03:20 Don't worry, I'm sure it will be fixed, but it will take a while to roll out to the distro kernels, it takes a time for upstream testing to complete. If you were desperate to be among the first to the solution, try the linux-git AUR package, but -git kernels often have half finished code changes at any given commit and can create even bigger problems. 1 Likes
Re: linux kernel 6.8 and an i7-7700 Reply #3 – 08 April 2024, 15:35:55 I'm in no rush. LTs it is then for now at least. Happy to have an option that doesnt involve another install of another distro.Actually happy to know this isn't likely a permanent thing. TY TY TY!
Re: linux kernel 6.8 and an i7-7700 Reply #4 – 17 April 2024, 18:06:19 does this new update to the main kernel mean that the patch for intel is working now?
