SCREEN BRIGHTNESS ADJUSTER NOT WORKING

I can't change the brightness on my screen, built-in hot keys on my laptop don't work, have installed multiple different applications and rebooting after each installation and have even tried to directly tinker with settings in the backlight directory, the printed brightness percentage changes but the actual brightness doesn't change.
Does anyone know what the problem is?

Here is the inxi output for my laptop if it helps:

probably not, but worth a shot as this tripped me up on a thinkpad before - if the brightness keys are dual function (F5/F6 or similar), its not just a case of "F1-F12 as primary function" being enabled in the bios under config - keyboard/mouse?  Just an idea.

the default backlight utility  has problem detecting many laptops backlight controller.

 the easiest way to solve this problem is to install and use another backlight utility

i recommend "clight" if you want many wierd phone like brightness control.
and "acpilight" if you just want it to work. this one will replace the default backlight  utility.

You know, I might not even have xbacklight installed, and apparently it works on Intel. Do you know how I can install it? I can't seem to find it on the AUR or any of the other repositories on Pacman.

You know, I might not even have xbacklight installed, and apparently it works on Intel. Do you know how I can install it? I can't seem to find it on the AUR or any of the other repositories on Pacman.

Quick search with pacman shows:
Code: [Select]
> pacman -F xbacklight
galaxy/acpilight 1.2-2
    usr/bin/xbacklight
extra/xorg-xbacklight 1.2.3-3 (xorg-apps xorg)
    usr/bin/xbacklight
community/acpilight 1.2-2
    usr/bin/xbacklight

You might want to enable the Arch repositories to get the extra repository from Arch.
Generally backlight on laptop for me was trial and error, so good luck.

Also, keep in mind that it can change/break with Linux 6.1:

"acpilight" is on artix's galaxy repo

for "xorg-xbacklight" you need to enable arch repos

Do you know how I can install it ?
Try this:
sudo pacman -Sy acpilight
(a backward-compatible xbacklight replacement from arch community )

Then, create 4 or 5 launchers in a toolbar
xbacklight=1
xbacklight=10
xbacklight=50
xbacklight=100
