[SOLVED] LARBS not working properly.

Hello, I'm new to Linux, and I'm very interested in Artix linux and init systems.

About a month ago, I got recommended a Luke Smith video on Artix, and watching his videos on it, and learning more about Artix linux I decided to install it, and use his LARBS script. I completely ditched windows, and most of my programs worked perfectly and the ones that didn't, I found a much better and minimal alternative to.

During my learning process, I made some mistakes on my old installation, and my display manager wasn't working, so decided to reinstall Artix and use only what I need. I did everything like I did before and ran the LARBS script again, it seemed to have worked, but the status bar wasn't displayed properly and the widgets (I'm not sure what they're called) on the status bar didn't show, and the caps lock keybinding wasn't working.

I got very used to the minimal desktop, and I'm used to it, so much so I never use the caps lock key anymore, and use SHIFT instead of the caps lock.

I couldn't find any documentation on dwm, or on LARBS about this issue, any help is much appreciated.

Thank you.

I've seen Luke's LARBS script before, it looks a bit weird, so probably a recent change must've caused something to fail in one of the commands issued.
You can try with an older stable ISO, if it works update and carry on.
If it doesn't, only he can know why.
LE try to ask in the Artix Telegram group, there are people who use dwm there.

I'll try that, I also made an issue on his github, so we'll see.

LARBS on Artix.

Hello, I've been trying to get LARBS working properly on Artix for a while.

I got it working once after installing it using zsh which I figured out was needed to get the script working, after a while I had to reinstall Artix (not because of the script), so I tried installing zsh again, and ran the script, but it didn't work.

The dwm block modules were missing, the wallpaper was missing, and the keybinding which I got very used to were also missing,

This is how I installed zsh, because I'm new to zsh, and Artix:

sudo pacman -S zsh

sh -c "$(curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/ohmyzsh/ohmyzsh/master/tools/install.sh)"

I've merged your two threads, will look better like this.

I'll try setting up LARBS myself (i've only done it once actually when it was a young project and very broken) in a VM and report back, if something breaks it'll try to figure out why :)

LE: take care with Oh-my-ZSH, it can break (other) stuff.

@Michael
Okay, I got LARBS installed, it seems to conflict with desktop sessions even on a new user (just remove them entirely before installing). I think something changed with sddm/lightdm so i'd recommend disabling their services, and also do not install ZSH, nor any modules for it before. It works fine after this. I can test more for you, just ask, for instance i don't know what you meant by 'dwm block modules', but it all seems to show up okay for me :)

Too late, I got it working after hours with ZSH. Thank you for the help, though I'm liking ohmyzsh a lot, and I've already set everything up including a custom kernels and all my games installed. I'm pretty confident this time I won't be reinstalling, or distro hopping anytime soon.

Artix is better.
