For home batteries lead acid is still a cheap if bulkier and heavier option, although you probably wouldn't keep them indoors due to the sulphuric gas - not sure about the wisdom of keeping a huge fire hazard lithium one in a house either!
I was watching this recently, and was quite surprised how the range and performance of electric motorcycles can be quite limited in real life use:

In later vids he switches to another type that's a bit better and does various mods, and is currently waiting for a new upgraded battery to become available.

Yeh and lead acid also remains good if you don't have a constant power draw, it's capacity increases the less you draw. The marine stuff still competes with modern battery banks in terms of size occupied (but not weight, hehe)

The motorcycle guy about the upgraded battery he probably meant something with LiFePo4 cells which are more promising for high capacity+highish amperage drained per cell. This of course remains for vehicles under 1 tonne. For cars sticking in batteries remains useless...hybrids should be using supercaps+a tiny normal motor anyway. :)
