Firstly - check that you have entries in /etc/resolv.conf
Ping artixlinux.org

If there are legit DNS entries in resolv.conf, and you are getting positive ping replies - then its safe to say there is an issue with mirror.opensrv.org

the first two checked out ok and then i tried to access the mirror site you posted and couldnt

also my geany cant open display for some reason but thats a diff issue

well i mean it's ok i dont need updates right this second.  i do wonder more atm why geany cant open a display but neither issue is getting fixed right this moment so...

I downgraded that package and moved the current version from the cache then updated running pacman in debug mode, and in my case the package did give lots of 404 errors but was finally found after a delay here:
https://mirror.nju.edu.cn/artixlinux/lib32/os/x86_64/lib32-libxml2-2.13.2-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.zst
Possibly it's been added there already after your post, it looks like the problem isn't your setup.

Running Geany from the terminal might possibly give some helpful error messages.

lib32-libxml2-2.13.2-1.1 was pushed to address this.

i always run geany from the terminal and as much as i said is what it reported though... in any case after the update all was well.  TY for that solution to both problems apparently.
