Trinity DE now available in Omniverse repository

The Trinity Desktop Environment (TDE) is now available in the Omniverse repository.

TDE is fast and light weight complete desktop environment so particularly suited for low spec machines. It is fork of KDE 3.5 and still actively being developed.

How to install TDE
Disclaimer: This is not an official nor supported DE. Install at your own risk. Test it first in a VM or on a spare machine.

Add the omniverse repository to /etc/pacman.conf:
[omniverse]
Server = http://omniverse.artixlinux.org/$arch

Install the TDE core packages:
$ sudo pacman -Sy tde-core

Currently the Core packages are available. Additional packages will be made available once these build successfully. Some functions and integrations might be missing or not functioning. Also there is no complete integration with a display manager.

To start TDE:
- Create ~/.xinitrc with:
/opt/trinity/bin/starttde
- And run:
$ startx

This DE working perfectly... First time. After reboot only monotonous background on start, not even the cursor appears.
The sound system also crashes, other works completely.

Weird. Are you using startx to start TDE?
If so, you might try to start it with another user to see if that works.

I used with LXDM and after .xinitrc.
I'll clarify that this probably happens after changing the appearance settings. Without rebooting one time, I entered DE, but then I did not change any settings.

I checked it with the help of a fresh user - it starts, it works. Breaks after changing any of the appearance settings, or simple any settings.

I changed some settings too, but unfortunately cannot reproduce the issue.

I tried the official build for Arch - everything works after changing the settings (but there is also the latest version at the moment). Apparently, your version does not correctly write the user configuration, due to which the session cannot start normally.

The whole suite of new version 14.0.11 has been built now on Artix, so all available packages.
Trinity has now moved to it's own repository under Omniverse :

Code: [Select]
[trinity]
Server = http://omniverse.artixlinux.org/$arch/trinity

Feel free to give it a try.

Hi is this repo still up? Seem to be offline.
TDE runs extremely well on old/low spec hardware, also it has various mature windows theme to make it super easy to use for windows refugees. If you can restore the repo please help.  Thank you.

Ah, the KDE 3.5 interface: what good memories from my early days (around 2004) on Debian...  8)
I'm sure TDE is no more capricious than KDE was back then.  :D
