Need help improvimg boot speed

The title says it all.
With systemd I had a system that could boot just under 12s (to tty-login) (bios took/takes fairly long though (~7-9s)).
I switched to dinit so that I could get down the boot time even more (sadly I cant just switch to coreboot on my machine).
Right now my thinkpad needs about 13s to have dwm running. I wanna shave that down as much as possible.
What are the things I can do?
