you can try to rebuild it. The configure option can be applied to not use systemd

  --with-systemd-daemon   Add support for systemd startup notification
                          (default is autodetected)
if you system (or your chroot system which you use to build a package) is completely free of systemd stuff  , you don't need to specify those options.
No guarantee and not tested but you can try...
