Unfortunately, the only acceptable way I've found to get a uniform GTK/Qt look is setting the QT variables to gtk2. So, unless one  uses only one toolkit applications (which is highly unlikely), one's stuck with it. Not to mention that some apps, most notably Virtualbox, don't respect gtk2 and need a specific override (I use kvantum-dark) to follow the theme.
However, I'm not the most versed person in theme-ing, so if anyone can come up with a better solution, please do!
