[SOLVED] After update Artix boots to blank cursor after runit

Hello everyone,

I have recently updated my system on my Thinkpad P50 with Artix runit and it is now booting to a blank cursor (looks like _) after runit starts (I can see runit before it boots to the blank cursor). I can't switch to another tty and switching to the initramfs fallback used to work, but now doesn't.

I have never experienced this before. What is the first step in diagnosing and fixing this issue? I can boot into an Artix USB and chroot into it of course, I just don't know what to do after that.

Thank you for your time. :)

EDIT: This was happening, then I went to my systems boot menu and booted into the Artix UEFI entry, and this problem stopped happening. Like...what? Maybe I am inexperienced, or maybe I am having a drive failure? Is there any way to see what was happening the days it did not want to boot?

Hi,

Please make sure that your BIOS Settings are set to UEFI and not Legacy boot mode.

Regards

Thank you linuxer, I have that set. Maybe that was the issue?

I wish bios would log things for the user!

You are welcome.

This was the issue exactly.

I will mark it as solved.
