No X after last upgrade

Hello, after the last upgrade, I have the same problem. I tried the solution with .bash_profile with no results.
Code: [Select]

  if [[ ! "$DISPLAY" && "$(tty)" = "/dev/tty1" && ! "$(pgrep X)" ]]; then
printf "Changing to terminal 2\n"
chvt 2

if [[ ! "$DISPLAY" && "$(tty)" = "/dev/tty2" && ! "$(pgrep X)" ]]; then
exec startx
fi

I also installed sddm instead of the lightdm but I cannot go into graphics. A blinking cursor after

What video card do you have and which drivers do you use ? I'm guessing you have an Nvidia card and intel integrated graphics ?
Code: [Select]
lspci -v | grep VGA

The first error
Code: [Select]
(EE) AIGLX error: dlopen of /usr/lib/dri/i965_dri.so failed (/usr/lib/dri/i965_dri.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory)
Is related to the intel graphics.

Try reinstalling mesa.

Please tell more about your setup ?

00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Core Processor Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 18) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller])
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA Corporation GT218M [GeForce 310M] (rev a2) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller])
Xfce, runit, asus k52jc laptop, artix64.
The problem appeared suddenly after the last upgrade

First a disclaimer:
I don't know a lot about laptops with two graphics options.

Have you tried another full system upgrade ? If you caught a moment in time when the mirrors were updating that might have caused some sort of package mismatch.

All I can say for sure is you have an issue with the GPU drivers probably intel (mesa) what with the missing file.
Have a good read of the arch wiki relating to intel gpu, nvidia gpu and both on a laptop

In the bios or uefi can you enable and disable the two gpu's ? It might be worth trying with just the Nvidia gpu as it seems to be the intel driver causing the issue? Do you know which gpu was in use before it stopped working ?

You could try the actual nvidia driver though the Arch wiki page suggests
Quote
If you have an older card, NVIDIA no longer actively supports drivers for your card. This means that these drivers do not officially support the current Xorg version. It thus might be easier to use the nouveau driver, which supports the old cards with the current Xorg.
https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/nvidia-340xx-dkms/ is the one for your card I think.

You could look in /var/log/pacman.log and try to work out what was upgraded just prior to X ceasing to work.
I'd be suspecting a kernel upgrade and / or mesa. Then downgrade some packages.  An LTS kernel may be a suitable one to try. The nvidia-340xx-dkms driver should , in theory, work with any fairly recent kernel.

You could search the wider internet for some of the errors in Xorg.log.0 to see if other people with your card are having the same issue.

I solved the problem by installing mesa-amber!
The latest mesa does not support intel graphics (i7 640M)
Thank you
