Artix Default GRUB Entries Are Misconfigured

Hi,

Endevouros is  based on Arch but with notable configuration fixes (unlike Artix and its parent- Manjaro). From the latest EndevourOS Atlantis 24.1 release notes:

Legacy/Bios boot now has a fixed label name to make it compatible for older Bios systems*.


As per my tests Artix doesn't provide such fix and has no entry for BIOS and does not boot on BIOS computers. Artix only boots on UEFI. EndevourOS has such GRUB entry and does boot on BIOS machines too.

EndevourOS is relatively young comparing to Artix/Manjaro but it already is ahead and can be used on a wider variety of computers despite having the same kernel and drivers. I wander how long this incompatibility with BIOS has been going on with Artix/Manjaro?

Does that mean EndevourOS has a more skilled developers than Manjaro/Artix ? I think so!

I have no idea what you are talking about (attached screenshots of a successful Artix BIOS/MBR installation in a QEMU VM).

Endeavouros is a continuation of Antergos which dates back to 2012 so is older than Artix. Never had any problems with BIOS boot and Artix here so if you are experiencing this and wish to debug it then please provide the required details to do so.
Artix also follows the Arch principle of providing packages as the developers of those packages provide them, as far as possible. It's preferred to present any fixes upstream to the package developers, this will then benefit all Linux users, there will not be a problem with patches breaking on updates, and usually the package developers are more knowledgeable in their field so may spot if a proposed fix is safe, desirable and the optimum way of achieving the solution.
Endeavouros is also a beginner friendly distro, eg. on the same page you link  " OS prober is installed by default again for a better experience managing multi-booting several systems." Grub disabled that because it's a security risk and is a simple matter of config if you want it which any Artix user should be expected to easily accomplish themselves.

I have no idea what is meant by a "fixed label name to make it compatible for older Bios systems", but you can, of course, just set whatever label names you need/want while partitioning your disks.

I have been using "linux" for a long time...many different distros. I just don't understand why someone would deride one distro as not being "correct" as compared to another. In all my years of "linux" usage I have NEVER had the inclination to do such a thing. If you are more impressed by this or that distro, for whatever reason...simply use that distro. End of story as far as I can understand. These type of posts deserve a terse response....if any. Sorry if this seems blunt.
