OSS open sound server in addition to ALSA? Who is interested to use it?

Hi,

I have seen in the package list of the new
distro some new audio related packages.

Is someone here who is interested to give the Open sound server
OSS v4 a chance on a professional basis?

I can compile it. But I need help to configure the
system and the modules in such a way that it could work
in openrc.

Regards.

I used to use OSS4 in a remote past, but nowadays it would probably need a lot of tweaking like blacklisting alsa modules and using wrappers to redirect alsa-only-aware apps to /dev/dsp. You could give it a try, I don't think openrc would mind of what the sound subsystem is.

I've used it inside of the last couple of years (can't remember exactly how long ago now). I could get it working on Manjaro without too much of a fuss. Don't know why I didn't continue using it?

I just checked my notes & I don't have anything on OSS, so I can't be of any help, sorry.
