Seatd and Xorg on tty7

Hi,

So, I have replaced elogind by seatd.

One of my (many) griefs against elogind was that it forced Xorg to be started on tty1, while the standard on Linux for all these years have always been to do that on tty7 or tty5, and leave the first ttys for text virtual consoles.

So, now with seatd, would it be possible to revert to the classic Xorg on tty7?

(PS: fwiw, I am using openrc)

That depends on your display manager/login screen, not your seat manager or init. Here's how to do that on sddm, for instance.

In fact, elogind and even systemd-logind can handle Xorg on tty7 just fine, it's just labeled as "insecure" for some reason.

s6-linux-init does start a fallback getty on tty7. I wouldn't think this would matter, but maybe that causes something unexpected?

Thanks a lot, you answers helped me!
As I use LXDM, I just edited /etc/lxdm/lxdm.conf the obvious way, and it worked.

I do not take seriously the threat that it involves, given the usage I do of this machine.

It helps that I always lock using physlock in some TTY when I am away, so that there is no possibility of anybody switching VTs and doing something, but anyway such a thing would imply that the threat comes from somebody who has a user account on my machine. There are only 1 persons with a user account: me.
